The media is miscalling the importance of today’s gubanatorial races…

….imagine that! Once again, the media has put all this misplaced importance on today’s voting in New Jersey and Virginia. Let’s look a little closer at these situations. New Jersey is suffering greatly from high unemployment, failing business, and the highest taxes in the country. The fact that Christopher might win over the incumbent, Corzine, is more a result of the accumulating effects of the afformentioned. This situation was there and growing worse before Obama was even elected, thus, I don’t believe this election shoud be deemed a referendum on this current presidency. As Tip O’Niel said many times; “keep it local”.

The race in Virginia is a case of an always right leaning electorate faced with no real choice this time around. Although republican McDonnal is a very poor candidate and will try to lead Virginia backward once  seated as governor, he looks like Goliath compared to the democrat, Creigh Deeds. Deeds just might be the poorest candidate for a statewide office in the history of our country! What were the democrats thinking? McDonnal is simply a result of the empty cupboard the republicans have to work with nationally! Pathetic!

New York 23, always a republican held seat in a fairly conservative district in upstate New York, will go to a Rush Limbaugh type candidate from the far far right. Some national republican figures actually endorsed the independent candidate over their own party’s candidate! This actually bodes quite well for the democrats moving forward. As the republican party gets more and more conservative, with Rush Limbaugh and Glen beck leading the charge, their tent becomes much smaller. For the most part, these “wing nuts” in charge, with their total intolerance of anything but what they think, will kill the party. Eventually, there may be a national conservative party formed after the mainstream gentlemen and gentleladies of the republican party become sick of the election losses, the hate, the bile, and all the rest of the crap that Rush, Glen, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, Michelle Malcolm, Laura Ingraham and the rest of the right wing haters bring to the table.  As a national party, the republicans,  should be ashamed of their present position of being lead by some Fox News entertainers and other erratic and sometimes incoherent pundits.

It’s really becoming a time for the future of a stronger democratic party. Keep it up Rush, Glen, Sean and the rest of you “party leaders”! Thank you.

  1. sistersue Says:

The extreme right wing consists of approximately 20% of the voters. The Republican party is making a huge mistake by not making a bigger tent to encompass more moderate or liberal-leaning Republicans. The Hispanic population will become the majority in this country in the not too distant future. People like Rush, Hannity, Coulter, Malkin — even Lou Dobbs — are alienating so many minorities. Are they clueless? Are they aware of the changes in diversity in this country? The election today is NOT a referendum on Obama. It is a referendum on the CANDIDATES!
